Few people realize the damage the sun can have on your skin, but our cosmetic surgery center in Melbourne, Florida can provide you with excellent treatments to reverse the effects of sun damage.

Few people realize that sun penetrates your clothing.  A t-shirt provides an SPF of about 7 and a wet t-shirt provides and SPF of about 2-3. Sun protective clothing is a great way to practice 'safe sun'—that is, enjoy the benefits of a wonderful sunny day, but avoid the harmful effects of the sun. The well-known clothing dye company, Rit, also makes an additive that you can pour into the washing machine that impregnates your regular clothing with sun protective properties. This way you can protect your skin without putting on slimy sunscreen under your clothing.

However, after spending many years in the sun, you may find yourself with sun-damaged skin and not sure of what’s out there to treat this condition. There are so many excellent treatments available to reverse the effects of sun damage. A lot depends upon your skin type, degree of sun damage, willingness to accept recovery time, and, your budget. The first key is a good sunblock—one that you wear every day. In general, makeup that contains sunscreen is not adequate. You really should apply daily a separate sunblock wit SPF of 30.

If you are considering treatments for sun damage, call our office at 321.727.3223 to schedule an appointment. We would love to meet with you and discuss the best treatment options available to you.
