What is the procedure like?

Voluma treatments are performed right here in our surgeon’s office. For most patients, the procedure takes only about 15 to 20 minutes and does not require any anesthesia. If preferred, arrangements can be made to increase your comfort during the treatment. Since hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring substance in the body, allergy testing is not necessary, and all skin types can benefit from Juvéderm.

What can I expect during my recovery period?

You won’t have much of a recovery time to speak of! Immediately after leaving Clevens Face and Body Specialists, you’ll be able to head back to work, go shopping, run errands, or do whatever else it is you might normally be doing. Some patients are more sensitive than others and will see temporary side effects after the procedure, but these will fade within a day.

Your Voluma treatment may lead to redness, bruising, and mild swelling. Tenderness, lumps, discoloration, and itching are also side effects that can possibly occur. Side effects will fade within two to four weeks and the only noticeable results will be your enviably youthful cheeks.

What is the difference between Juvéderm and Juvéderm Voluma?

Juvéderm Voluma is a cross-linked hyaluronic acid, making it more viscous, for longer-lasting results. The original Juvéderm is also hyaluronic acid, but is not as “thick” and is often used to enhance the lips and lines around the mouth.
